August (2019) Fan Spotlight - John Giftah

John Giftah

John has a fun Scooby collection that includes a pen drive, toothbrush, laptop and phone covers, books, utensils and more. He's adding to his collection with some of the 50th anniversary figures.

Check out John on Facebook!

1. What was the first Scooby series you ever watched?
My first Scooby-Doo series that I watched as a little kid was Scooby Doo - Where are you? My favourite series is the New Scooby-Doo movies.

2. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why?
Though my crush is always Daphne Blake and Scooby is my Cutie pie, my favourite member I really admire and look up to is Fred Jones because I can relate a lot to him as a natural leader, decision maker, funny (especially in the pup named Scooby series) and how his plots go off most of the times.

3. What is your favorite Scooby item in your collection?
My favourite Scooby Doo item is the Scooby-Doo pen drive.

4. What is one Scooby item you would love to add to your collection?
I would like to get the Scooby Doo character set and if possible own the entire Scooby Doo old classics on DVD.

Thank you, John, for being my fan spotlight for August!

January (2019) Fan Spotlight - Al

Al

Al is a huge Scooby fan! I'm happy to have him as my January Fan Spotlight. He has some really cool Scooby-Doo collectibles.

Check out Al on Social Media:
Facebook

1. What was the first Scooby series you ever watched?

I first fell in love with Scooby and the gang by watching the very first series; Scooby-Doo Where Are You? and I am old enough to remember watching it as it originally aired; seeing the first episode ever What a Night for a Night

2. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why?

I love the entire gang, but I'd say my favourite character is Velma. She was the smart one, and I think because she was always considered a bit of a nerd and an outcast and I always thought of myself in the same way. (and my favourite colour is orange, lol).

3. What is your favorite Scooby item in your collection?

I have many favourite items in my collection; my Scooby Monopoly, Scooby Chess set, my cut-out dolls, but I'd say my 2 favourite items would be the Scooby barbie collection (since it was a gift from my husband) and my Zombie Shaggy which I picked up on my honeymoon in New York city this past summer.

4. What is one Scooby item you would love to add to your collection?

There are so many items I want, basically anything I don't have, but I'd say the one thing I keep seeing that I would love to have is the Scooby & Shaggy telephone.

Check out more of Al's collection:

Thank you Al for doing my fan spotlight! I have to say, your Zombie Shaggy is amazing!

Derek is my October Fan Spotlight. This picture is all he currently has in his collection, but he plans on getting more. I feel that every Scooby fan should be spotlighted, not just the fans with the huge collections. Every fan is important in my book, and Derek is very happy to share his Scooby collection with us.

Check out Derek on Twitter!

1. What was the first Scooby series you ever watched?

The first series that I watched was the original Scooby doo where are you?

2. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why?

I never really had a favorite character because I always thought of them as a whole instead of individuals

3. What is your favorite Scooby item in your collection?

My favorite thing in my collection is not what I have but what I plan on getting with the encyclopedia

4. What is one Scooby item you would love to add to your collection?

One thing that I would love to add to my collection would be an original drawing from the original show

Thank you, Derek, for being my October Fan Spotlight!

April Fan Spotlight - Wendy

Wendy has been a Scooby-Doo fan for years and she has quite an extensive collection of Scooby-Doo merchandise. I like her detailed answers to my questions. I also really like how she displays all of her Scooby stuff.

Check out Wendy on Twitter!

Wendy reminds me of Velma in this picture...perfect way to capture her and Scooby together!

What was the first Scooby series you ever watched?

While I can't say that I remember my very first introduction to Scooby-Doo, I'm almost positive that
it was either “The Scooby-Doo Show” (1976) or “Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo” (1979). I was a kid in the very late '80s, very early '90s, and my introduction to Scooby, I'm sure, came from the USA Network's Saturday morning Cartoon Express block, and I never remember them airing ANY episodes from the first two “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” seasons. It was always the later series. This likely explains why I love Scrappy and why “The Scooby-Doo Show” is still my absolute favourite!

Who is your favorite member of the gang and why?

Freddy is definitely my favourite member of the Scooby gang. He's a natural-born leader, highly
intelligent and organized, can think on his feet, is good in a crisis, routinely exhibits bravery, ingenuity, and dependability, and he's got good looks to boot – he's everything I want to be!

What is your favorite Scooby item in your collection?

My favourite piece is also one of my first -- a 1980 jumbo 44” Mighty Star Toys plush Scooby-Doo,
bought from a flea market when I was about 5 years old. For many years, I didn't want to go to sleep
without him. Now this well-loved item is the centerpiece and star of my collection!

What is one Scooby item you would love to add to your collection?

Not always easy to pick just one! I REALLY would love to find the 1973 Scooby-Doo and the Headless Horseman metal lunch box, and the 2000 Scooby-Doo Talking Animated Telephone. But if I'm choosing that one ultimate collectible, it's going to be the 1977 Imperial Toy Corporation Scooby-Dee push puppet. My favourite colour has always been pink, and so a female version of Scooby-Doo who wore a pink collar was pretty much my dream as a child. I'm disappointed that there aren't really any other Scooby-Dee collectibles, but I guess that's to be expected of a character who was in only a single episode. All the more reason this is my ultimate collection dream piece!
