I love Scooby-Doo and this is my space to share my Scooby journey with you. You'll find my podcast episodes, interviews, Scooby merchandise and more! Scooby-Dooby-Doo!!
Talking to John Dusenberry was amazing! He was so much fun to talk to, had amazing stories and he really knows a lot about movies and TV shows. He had some amazing things to say about the people he worked with, too!
John gave us some information about the original SCOOB! movie that we didn't know and he talked about how he felt about SCOOB! Holiday Haunt being cancelled. We had a 3 hour conversation with him, and we enjoyed every second of it! The initial interview was an hour and 20 minutes, but we were all enjoying the conversation so much, we talked for another hour and a half.
In addition to his animation work, John also teaches story writing at NarrativeFirst.com. You can book your time slot with him through the website.

John, we hope you make it back to the Academy Awards some day!
Yesterday, we all received some bad news that Scoob! Holiday Haunt was cancelled. I thought it was a joke at first, but then when Tony Cervone and Michael Kurinsky confirmed the news, my heart sank for all the people that have put their time and energy into making this movie. They had both said the movie was almost finished, so why would they can it? If you don't want to release it on streaming, release it as a direct to video release. I know a ton of Scooby fans that would buy it on DVD.
If WB is worried about not making enough money on it, well, cancelling it means they won't make any money on it at all and the movie was almost done, so they've already put a lot of money into its production. Release it on DVD and make some money from it.
The way Hanna-Barbera properties are treated by Warner Bros. is a shame. People love HB cartoons, and WB refuses to do anything with them. They could be making shows and movies with the characters, they could open a physical HB museum, create merchandise... They have a lot of possibilities, but they choose to ignore the characters. All they have to do is go on social media and see how people love the characters and would love to see reboots of a lot of them. Instead, they ignore the HB fans.
After receiving the news about Scoob! Holiday Haunt's cancellation and stewing about it a bit, we jumped on to Zoom to chat about it. As disheartening as this news was, being able to vent to your friends about it is a blessing! Especially when we all respect each other's opinions. There were no eye rolls or sighs that we would get from people that aren't big Scooby fans.
There is a petition that Bill Haller's son made to save the movie! Bill Haller is one of the co-director's on the movie. Please sign it!
Also, please use #SaveScoobHolidayHaunt on your social media posts!
Let us know what you think of the movie's cancellation and what you think it means for the upcoming Velma and Mystery Pups shows.
We made it through 2021! Another tough year with Covid! Plus, we've seen cases creeping into 2022, though, hopefully, this year will be much better!
Happy 2022!!! Here is some of the Scooby-Doo stuff that is coming up this year!!
SCOOB! Holiday Haunt
On December 22, 2021, we found out that HBO Max will be streaming SCOOB! Holiday Haunt in late 2022. The film will feature the gang as kids.
"To celebrate Scooby Doo's first Christmas, 10-year-old Shaggy and the gang take him to a holiday-themed resort owned by Fred's favorite Uncle Ned. When the park is beset by a ghostly haunting, the kids must solve a 40-year-old mystery to save the resort and show Scooby the true meaning of Christmas."
Figures Toy Company - New Scooby Villain Figures
Figures Toy Company will be releasing some really cool figures this year! They have already announced Redbeard the Pirate, Redbeard's Ghost and Frankenstein and Wolfman from A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts. Be sure to keep an eye on their Twitter page for more announcements coming, like Carlotta the Gypsy and possibly even Dracula.
Like every year, there are some Scooby-Doo Valentine's Day products that have been released for 2022.
This year's greeter is the SCOOB! version, with his sad puppy dog eyes, holding a letter in his mouth. He is sold exclusively at Walmart for $20.00, though people are buying him and selling him on eBay and Mercari for 2-3 times its value!
Another Scooby Valentine's plush was released this year. This one was sold at Weis, the grocery store, for $18.00 and features Scooby singing "Be My Baby" and side stepping.
A gift set was released as well. The set includes a plastic water bottle, a puzzle, stickers and jumbo chalk in a tin for $12.98.
And finally SCOOB! Valentine's cards with stickers for $2.48.
Trick or Treat Studios - New Masks
Trick or Treat Studios released their 2022 catalog, which shows the Scooby-Doo masks and costumes on pages 17 and 18. While most of them looked like ones we have seen before, 3 of them stood out as new - The Caveman, the Zombie and the Witch. These masks are incredible! Be sure to keep an eye on their website for the new masks.
Handmade By Robots - Velma and The Mystery Machine
Handmade By Robots commented on a post on Instagram by @theartofscoobydoo and said that, in addition to the Scooby-Doo and Shaggy knit looking figures they released in December, they will be releasing Velma and The Mystery Machine in May! I can't wait to see what they look like and purchase them, of course!
Funko Glow-In-The-Dark Phantom Shadow
Funko Pop News! posted on Twitter on December 25, 2021 that a new glow-in-the-dark Phantom Shadow will be released by Funko. No other information, like when or where, was released.
Scooby-Doo! Where Are You - The Complete Series (Blu-Ray)
Scooby-Doo! Where Are You The Complete Series is coming to Blu-Ray on March 1, 2022. According to blu-ray.com, the 4-disc set will include 3 seasons of the show.
Batman & Scooby-Doo! Mysteries #11 & #12
The final 2 issues of the Batman & Scooby-Doo! Mysteries comic will be released on February 8 & March 8, 2022 and the covers have been revealed. I wonder when we will see them cross paths again!
Daphne & Velma: Buried Secrets
Will Daphne & Velma: Buried Secrets (Book #3) be released this year? Scholastic has been putting off the release of the book, according to the author, Morgan Baden. It was supposed to be released last year and then it just wasn't. Let's hope we see this in 2022!
Scooby-Doo! And the Lost City of Gold - Live Stage Show
The Scooby-Doo! and the Lost City of Gold live stage show was supposed to open March 19, 2020, however, Covid forced them to cancel all of the shows. They rescheduled them and the show opens on January 25, 2022 in Roanoke, Virginia. For more details or to get tickets, check out their website.
Scooby-Doo & Krypto Crossover Movie?
In June, 2021, Editor Annie De Brock posted on her website that she was working on a Scooby-Doo & Krypto crossover movie and it was coming in 2021. The movie was not confirmed by WB and wasn't listed anywhere else. Is the movie still coming? While Annie's website used to name the movie as Scooby-Doo! and Krypto Too!, it now says Scooby Doo DTV.
Velma
The Velma series was announced on February 10, 2021 with very few details. It would be an adult animated HBO Max 10 episode origin story that would focus on Velma, who would be voiced by Mindy Kaling, and she would have a colorful past.
On June 10, 2021, we learned that Velma would be of East Asian descent and the show wouldn't include Scooby or The Mystery Machine.
August 16, 2021, they gave more information on the characters, including Shaggy, Daphne and Fred, which was disturbing to say the least.
No release date has been announced, so I guess we have to wait and see on this one!
Mindy Kaling appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on July 23, 2021 and she claimed she loves Velma! My question is, if she loves Velma so much, why is she changing everything about her? She is essentially creating a whole new character but using the Velma name. It frustrates me so much when people do that. If you love a character so much, you should be building on them, not recreating them.
We are only 19 days in to 2022 and I wonder what else is coming for us Scooby-Doo fans! What are you most excited to see out of everything listed?
Yesterday, comicbook.com posted that SCOOB! 2 is in the works, and we all posted that SCOOB! 2 has been confirmed.
In an interview with ComicBookMovie.com, Tony Cervone, Director of the original SCOOB! movie, said:
"Actually, we are kicking the tires on a follow-up to Scoob! It hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s something we’re all excited about. The whole creative team that made the first movie is still around and back and working on something new. It was neat to create this Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, and it’s exciting to return to it."
This isn't the first time there was talk about making a 2nd film, and the possibility of a whole Hanna-Barbera Universe. In an interview with Den of Geek May 15, 2020, Bill Haller, head of animation for SCOOB! said:
"I think Brian, Dynomutt, and Dee Dee could have their own series. I want to see more of the Falcon Force. I want to watch that team grow because there’s definitely, even in the credits at the end, you could see that the team is growing."
What do you think about a 2nd SCOOB! movie? Are you looking forward to it?
The final SCOOB! trailer was released yesterday! Check it out!
SCOOB! is an origin story about how the gang met and formed Mystery, Inc. The movie also features other Hanna-Barbera characters like Blue Falcon, Dynomutt and Captain Caveman. It was originally supposed to be released September 21, 2018, but the movie was pushed back to May 15, 2020. Check out the official site for more info!
Here is my timeline of SCOOB! I apologize if I missed anything.

May 5, 2020
According to Billboard.com, Atlantic Records announced SCOOB! The Album, which will feature songs from artists like Charlie Puth, Lennon Stella, Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown and Ava Max. I don't know who any of those people are! The full soundtrack will be released on May 15, 2020.
Do you remember when Warner Bros. revealed in 2014 that a new Scooby-Doo movie would be released in theaters? Then in April, 2016, they said the name of the movie would be S.C.O.O.B. A lot of Scooby fans got excited and thought the movie would be released in 2019 to celebrate Scooby's 50th Anniversary. However, the release date moved from September 21, 2018 to May 15, 2020.
I think the most shocking thing about this movie is the cast. Instead of using the normal voice actors that we know and love, Warner Bros. decided they wanted bigger names to voice the beloved Scooby gang. They think those bigger names will draw bigger crowds, but can they really bring the characters to life like Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), Frank Welker (Fred, Scooby), Grey DeLisle (Daphne), and Mindy Cohn or Kate Micucci (Velma).
The current voice actors were pretty surprised to hear they weren't reprising the roles in the new movie that they've been doing for years.
Even Mindy Cohn responded to Matthew Lillard's Tweet. Remember when WB replaced her with Kate Micucci? I really miss Mindy as Velma! I have nothing against Kate, I just really like Mindy's Velma.
The new cast is made up of a bunch of actors that people probably know, but can they bring the gang to life? Will they give us the voices we are used to or at least close to it or will the voices and characters be totally different than what we want to see?
The cast includes:
Zac Efron as Fred Jones
Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake
Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley
Will Forte as Shaggy Rogers
Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo
Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman
Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Dog Wonder
Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Sykes
There are 3 things I see this movie has going for it - 1. Frank Welker is voicing Scooby-Doo, so at least we'll have one character that we are familiar with. 2. Tony Cervone is directing the movie, and he has worked on several Scooby-Doo DTV movies and the series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. 3. The movie is animated!
SCOOB! is supposed to be released May 15, 2020. What are your thoughts about the movie and the cast?
