Scooby Addicts Turns 18

ScoobyAddicts.com was launched on February 1, 2007…18 years ago today! I can’t believe that the website is an adult now! I have nurtured it since it was little and it has grown into a wonderful resource for Scooby fans.

Scooby Addicts was not my first Scooby-Doo website. My original website was
created on May 28, 1998. I had a main page that featured a lot of panthers. Yes, I
like panthers a lot, and even have a tattoo of a panther on my shoulder, which was the first tattoo I ever got. The About Me page literally had nothing on it but a
sentence that there was nothing to tell about me and a bear at the top of the page. When you moused over the image of the bear, his eyes would turn red. My original Scooby-Doo page was super basic. It had a text episode guide, a few pictures of the gang and an anti-Scrappy page. Yep, that’s right … I didn’t like Scrappy then either! I had one of those backgrounds on the page that was just a whole lot of Scoobys. There was no family tree, or villain info or anything like that.

The only other links on the page were the ‘email me’ button and a guestbook that
you could either sign or view. It’s seems kind of silly now to have that, but at the time, that’s how people would leave you messages if they stopped by to look at your website. You were cool if people signed the guestbook!

This site was hosted on geocities, which closed down on October 26, 2009, and was created at a time when HTML was all we really had and websites were pretty simple. I created the banner and the buttons and I was super proud of myself at the time that I could do a color fade or add a chiseled effect.

The original Scooby Addicts page in 2007 was blue with orange headings, white text and green links with a picture of the gang, a picture of Scooby and Shaggy and a banner picturing a graveyard on the top. ScoobyAddicts.com was in a green fade color. I’m not even sure why I chose blue for the background. The site was difficult to read because of it and so blue! The site stayed that way until January 3, 2017.

At that point, I changed the site to a green background, keeping the orange headings and white text. I removed the graveyard banner and added a silhouette of the gang to the top. I changed the website name to purple. I also added the blog, which was at blogger at the time, so people could leave comments.

The green color for the site did not grow on me. It was actually kind of hideous and boring. Now there was too much green instead of too much blue! By January 5, 2017, 2 days after making the green design live, I changed the design to what it is today – the purple graveyard top with the silhouette of the gang, ScoobyAddicts.com in orange, a beige background with purple headings and black font. I really like the design of the site the way it is now, but I did realize in writing this blog post that I don’t have my logo on the website at all! I need to fix that!

Scooby Addicts started off pretty basic but I’ve added a lot to it over the years,
including a family tree, villains, series and movie releases and amazing interviews
that we have done through Scooby Panel (also available on YouTube). I also have images of Scooby tattoos that fans have had, license plates and Mystery Machines (email me to submit a photo) and Scooby recipes! I think adding the daily history to the page on January 1, 2022 was one of my best features. It took me a long time to compile a database of Scooby history, which is sadly not complete, but it is packed with series, movie and DVD release dates, merchandise release dates, birthdays, deaths and more.

Just a quick shout-out to Wendy Brydge for this amazing Christmas gift from last year! I love this sign so much!

My main goal of ScoobyAddicts.com was to have as much Scooby-Doo information in one place. I have so many ideas of ways to make the website better and information I want to add to it. I am hoping that in 2025, I’ll be able to add more fun content and I won’t forget to add that logo!

18 years is a long time to do anything! I truly love Scooby-Doo and I enjoy sharing that with other people. So many people have said they found Scooby Addicts when they were younger and have followed the website or my social media for years. I’ve met some great people and made some amazing friendships through Scooby.

Scooby-Doo has been a very big part of my life. He represents happiness and safety for me. I am honored to have been able to maintain the site for 18 years and thankful to everyone that has visited the site and enjoyed the information. I look forward to some fun additions and continuing to update the series, movies, villains, family and history. I hope you will continue to check out the website and if there is anything you want to see added, let me know!
