What's New in 2021, Scooby-Doo?

We all know 2020 was a tough year and I'm sure most of us are happy to move forward into a new year and hopefully some better days ahead. I'm not sure that we'll really notice much of a difference in 2021 until closer to the end of the year, still having to wear masks and social distance, but I hope that things will get better sooner than later.

One of the things that helped me get through 2020 was Scooby-Doo and 2021 should be just as exciting in the Scooby world. Here are some of the things we can expect in the world of Scooby this year:

Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who? The Complete First Season

Werewolf Funko Pop Soda

Funko Fair launched on January 19, 2021. The sneak peak video released by Original Funko included this Werewolf Funko Soda Pop figure. The figure went on sale for preorder on the 19th for $11.99 and it sold out very quickly. It is supposed to be released in April 2021.

Scooby-Doo! The Board Game
CMON Games created a Kickstarter to get pledges to back their cooperative Scooby-Doo board game. If you chose to back the game, as I did, you get amazing hand painted characters, the game board, cards, and a really cool glow-in-the-dark box. Pledges ended on January 20th, but the game isn't expected until November 2021.

Scooby-Doo Valentine's Merchandise

The year has brought us a bunch of merchandise from Walmart, Dollar Tree and other stores for Valentine's Day. Plush, gift sets, bags...lots of Scooby stuff to add to the collection. While it's not always easy to find the merchandise at your local store, it's nice that the Scooby community works together and will help each other out to get it.

Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob

Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob is an original movie that will be released on DVD on February 23, 2021. The movie will be a medieval mystery where the gang travels to England, meets a sorceress and travels back in time. The movie was announced on December 10, 2020 along with the first trailer

The Batman & Scooby-Doo! Mysteries Comic Book Series

A new comic book crossover series is coming! The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries will include 12 comics by DC and will feature Batman, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and Velma. There has been no mention of Daphne or Fred for the series yet. Have they been left out?

The first comic in the series goes on sale April 13, 2021.

We have been hearing that a Scooby-Doo/Courage the Cowardly Dog crossover movie is coming in 2021, through no date has been determined. I'm not even sure if this has been confirmed by WB, so we will have to see what the future holds with this one.

That's all I have for now for 2021. Keep an eye out on my blog and social media sites for more news.

  1. I wasn't aware of the Werewolf Soda thing, that's cool! The Courage the Cowardly Dog crossover hasn't been confirmed by WB yet, though one of the character designers working on Guess Who (Tracy Mark Lee) confirmed on Instagram that the movie would be out this year, also citing that it was originally a Guess Who episode that got expanded into a film. There are also four Where Are You novelizations that came out today, as well as the final book of the Daphne & Velma trilogy coming out on June 1.

    1. I'm interested to see what kind of Scooby merchandise we get this year. Last year was mostly about Scoob and we got a lot of stuff.

  2. I saw some of those soda cans, but they were other (non Scooby) characters that I wasn't interested in. Of course the only one I wanted they didn't have.
I've never heard of Courage the Dog, so not sure how I feel about that one, but of course I'll buy it just the same.

    1. They are making a ton of the soda can pop figures now. My hubby collects cans and he was going to collect them all at first, but it's become way too much so he just gets the ones he really likes.

    1. Sounds like he lost the fight lol. This one is the Ty Scooby plush. His collar has seen better days as it is starting to tear and lose it's coloring, but he's still in good shape considering I take him everythwere.

  4. Several online stores here in Norway started to list the Courage movie a few weeks ago, so I'm fairly sure it's coming. It's supposedly called "Scooby-Doo: Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo Meets Courage The Cowardly Dog" and is coming to DVD in september this year.

    1. That's cool that they are listing it now. I still don't know if WB has ever officially released any info about the movie, I think it was just seen on a blog post for one of the artists. Thanks for following up!
