My Favorite Podcasts

I am addicted to listening to podcasts! I listen to them when I am driving, cooking, doing things around the house and sometimes when I'm working. Most of the podcasts I listen to have to do with true crime. I have always had an interest in that, and I have to thank Scooby-Doo for that! Scooby and the gang have always solved the mystery and they have taught us a few life lessons in the process.

Here is a list of my favorite podcasts

Serial
https://serialpodcast.org/
Serial was the first podcast I ever listened to, and I quickly became addicted to the case. Season 1 was all about Adnan Syed and how he was convicted of killing his high school girlfriend when he was 17 years old. Sarah Koenig narrated the podcast and she took us through the events that led up to Adnan's conviction. While I was extremely disappointed with the ending, her podcast was the driving force behind several other podcasts that I love!

Undisclosed
http://undisclosed-podcast.com/
I absolutely love Undisclosed! In season 1, they went into a lot more detail on Adnan Syed's case. Rabia Chaudry is a lawyer and a long time friend of Adnan's. This case was personal for her and she poured her heart and soul into it. Colin Miller and Susan Simpson were the perfect co-podcasters to work with Rabia to help free Adnan. Thanks to their hard work in uncovering new evidence and along with his lawyer, Justin Brown, Adnan will get a new trial!

In season 2 of Undisclosed, they talked about the case of Joey Watkins, who was sentenced to life in prison for murder. The evidence against him was weak and the fact that he was convicted really makes you think about the legal system in our country. The Georgia Innocence Project requested a new trial for Joey.

Truth & Justice with Bob Ruff

I have only listened to season 1 of this podcast, which also dealt with Adnan's case. (I said I was addicted to Adnan's case...I was't kidding. I'm currently reading Rabia Chaudry's book, Adnan's Story: The Search for Justice for Adnan Syed.) He went into a lot of detail like Undisclosed and they even collaborated on a few occasions.

Up and Vanished
http://www.upandvanished.com/
This podcast is a favorite! Payne Lindsay talked about the case of Tara Grinstead. Tara went missing in 2005. There was no trace of her. The case was cold! Thanks to Payne, he brought the case back to life and after 11 years of nothing, 2 arrests were made. Not only did he help to solve the case, but he also gave Tara's family closure. Even if they don't find out exactly what happened, which I hope they do, at least they have an idea of what happened and they were able to put her to rest. Payne is still reporting on the case and giving us updates. He'll be working on season 2 soon.

Casefile True Crime
http://casefilepodcast.com/
I have a love/hate relationship with this podcast. Each episode describes a different crime, some of which have never been solved. The narrator, who has remained anonymous, goes into great detail about each case and you get a great understanding of what happened. With some of them, I feel like he is describing a Rob Zombie movie. The details are horrific! I usually listen to a few episodes and then listen to something else to cleanse my brain a little before going back to it. The cases are interesting, but the fact that there are monstrous people in this world is scary!

Suspect Convictions
http://www.suspectconvictions.com/
I had a hard time listening to this podcast, even though it was interesting. In 1990, a 9 year old girl, Jennifer Lewis, was found burning behind a school. The girl had parents that were negligent and they allowed people to be around her that were not the best influences. The suspect, Stanley Liggins, was convicted twice, and both convictions were overturned. He had a crime ridden past and some of the crimes he was never convicted of. He will go back to court in May of this year, assuming it doesn't get postponed for him to find new council.

Someone Knows Something
http://www.cbc.ca/radio/sks
Again, I only listened to season 1, which was about the disappearance of Adrien McNaughton, a 5 year old boy who went missing on a fishing trip with his family. Was he taken? Did he drown? No one knew where he was. A little after the first season ended, divers went into the lake to look for clues. There were some things that were found that they need to test and the investigation continues.

Missing and Murdered: Who Killed Alberta Williams
http://www.cbc.ca/missingandmurdered/podcast
Alberta Williams was found dead along a highway in 1989.No one was ever charged with her murder, but one of the officers that investigated her case believes he knows who her killer is. This case remains unsolved.

Actual Innocence
http://www.actualinpod.com/
Actual Innocence is all about people who have been convicted of crimes they didn't commit. The exonerated person gets to talk about the details of their case and what they went through. It's scary to think there are so many people convicted of crimes that they didn't actually commit. They spend years in prison for something they didn't do, while the real culprit is still on the loose.

A Podcast Named Scooby-Doo
http://scoobydoocast.libsyn.com/
I have only listened to the first 2 episodes so far. The podcast is good. If you want to learn about Scooby from the people that have worked on it, this is the podcast to listen to. He puts a lot of hard work into this podcast for us Scooby fans!

That is my list of podcasts that I really like. I have a couple that I listen to that aren't about true crime, but they aren't favorites.

Scooby was my gateway series to crime shows and podcasts. In addition to podcasts, I also like shows like Law & Order, NCIS, NCIS: LA, etc.

If there is one thing I will always keep in mind about Scooby-Doo...
